Get Your Library Card

Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Howard County is eligible for a library card. Bring your ID and proof of address to any branch and access our full collection. For a temporary account that gives you access to our Digital Library, complete the online application.

What You Need

  1. A state-issued ID or passport
  2. Proof of a Howard County home, work, or school address (if not on your ID)

What to Know

  • There is no charge to obtain a library card or replace a lost card. Please report lost or stolen cards immediately. The lost card will be deactivated, and a new card will be issued free of charge.
  • You can view your library account online. You will need your library card barcode number and PIN (personal identification number).
  • If you are 13 years of age or younger, your parent or legal guardian will need to sign your card application. By signing, parents or guardians agree to pay all charges for overdue, lost, or damaged materials borrowed on their children’s cards.
